SITE LOCATION:

Birmingham, AL – Railroad facility

CONTAMINATION:

LNAPL – multiple (discontinuous) gasoline/diesel fuel plumes within an 8+ acre area 

HYDROGEOLOGY:

Groundwater at 15 to 20 feet bgs contained within a plastic clay (residuum) located on top of bedrock (dolomite)

EFR^® EFFECTIVENESS:

Two 8-hour EFR^® events were conducted in June 2010, recovering 357 gallons of diesel, as compared to 515 gallons of diesel fuel/year recovered from the pump and treat system in operation at the site. Two days of EFR^® recovered 69% of the annual recovery of the pump & treat system
