CoCs

TCE – DNAPL and dissolved phase

HYDROGEOLOGY

Heterogeneous surficial fill (mixture of clay, silty clay, sand, gravel, bricks, and other construction debris) 3 to 10 feet thick (average K=10-5 cm/sec) overlying glacial till (low permeability clay and silty clay) approximately 50 feet thick (average K=10-6 cm/sec). Dolomite bedrock exists at approximately 55 feet below ground surface (bgs).

Shallow water table in the fill material at approximately 3 to 6.5 feet bgs with an average hydraulic gradient of approximately 0.008 ft/ft. and a vertical gradient of approximately 0.3 to 0.5 ft/ft.

PLUME DESCRIPTION

Soil and groundwater (to ~20 ft) have been impacted above Tier 1 criteria by chlorinated VOCs as DNAPL (~200’x ~100’ - see plume map below) and dissolved phase.

EFR® EFFECTIVENESS

Two EFR® events were conducted in 2005-2006 (15 hours of extraction), recovering vapor phase VOCs in addition to free phase DNAPL. Measurable DNAPL is no longer present at this site.
